went in for an alignment after getting larger tires put on my jeep. the manager at the shop that did my tires had discount cards for alignments here. i set up an appointment and got in the next day at 345 and my vehicle was taken into their bay within 10 minutes. no other customers were inside or came in for about an hour after i arrived, just me and Cory behind the desk, who was very polite and i talked with him and another employee for awhile. i will admit their staff was very polite. while sitting in the lobby another mechanic walked in to ask Cory if there was anything to work on since he said he had nothing to do, including clean the shop which ill add was also very clean for a mechanic shop. i say this because i want to make clear it was very slow that day. after the better part of 2 hours comes, the guy i assume was the owner, i forget his name, older guy with glasses, calls me into the front office to tell me they didn't do the alignment because my adjustment sleeve was broke and the job couldn't be completed property. after asking to see the part in question i was walked back and saw the cracked sleeve. they said they found it that way after removing the clamp that was over top of the sleeve. now i'm not able to prove they may have accidentally broken it when trying to tighten or even loosen it, or if it was already broke, but i do know that the owner told me it was already like that before they had it. i found it a little hard to believe that after 1.5 hours with my vehicle back in the shop and on a slow day that it took them that long to find a broken sleeve on top of having performed no work on it as per the owners words. i will say that my vehicle is strictly used on paved roads and highways, no offroad use and that the steering setup was replaced almost 2 years ago shortly after i bought the vehicle. i don't know how long those sleeves are designed to last but i'll say it wasn't an aftermarket heavy duty setup, just a stock replacement. moving on, i was told i would now be looking at slightly more than double the cost of an alignment to fix the issue, just over $130.00, being told i wouldn't be charged for labor only the part needed. i was given a loaner for the night and told it would be ready the next day. i called around to a few jeep suppliers asking about the sleeve and breaking chance on them and got mixed reviews, some were surprised that it was broke so quickly while another had seen the issue before. no real supporting evidence there. i picked the jeep up the next day as promised and went on my way a bit upset i had to pay so much for an alignment. i got an email about a week later from AAA to rate my experience. i will say i was slightly harsher on that review and probably assumed things i stated as fact but beside the point. the same owner i delt with that day called me up to basically tell me in the nicest way he could to get bent and not return, after seeing my review. i told him i felt the entire ordeal was slightly suspicious with the work done, i didn't bother to mention to him my jeep still pulls to the right just as it did before i went in after a week of driving. the first few days were noticeably better but it quickly got back to pulling right. overall their staff was friendly minus the owner over the phone, the place was clean and the majority of customer reviews are very good, this is just my one and only experience with this place. i will stick with my usual mechanic that quoted an alignment for cheaper than this place did with a discount. maybe alignments just aren't their thing as i've seen other negative reviews regarding customer alignment jobs, but it's my word against theirs and there's really no chance of bothering to argue or fight them over this. best to bite the bullet and move on. i would recommend calling a few other shops around your area and getting estimates before making a decision.
